Types of Therapy
While I do individualize therapy for each client, I have three general starting points.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy - Very simply, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy targets a wide variety of problems by helping individuals learn new ways of thinking and behaving. CBT addresses a wide variety of problems, and many other treatments (like both listed below) are types of CBT.
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy - TF-CBT treats common symptoms children and adolescents often occur after a traumatic event. It helps children and teens learn to feel safe again, and come to terms with the traumatic event they experienced.
Exposure and Response Prevention - ERP treats common symptoms of OCD by helping those people learn to face their fears in small doses without acting out the rituals they have been using. It helps the person relearn that their fears are not actually going to come true.
